The interior of the model has also been revised for an up-market feel. The quality of the outgoing model’s interior was not very bad; however, the general layout and materials used was not very appealing. The new steering wheel has been revised for extra grip. Leather is the standard upholstery material on the seats, dashboard, steering wheel and door panels. The instrument cluster features twin dials. On the other hand, the center console comes with a huge touch-screen. The console also features AC controls, a shift on the go system for AWD models and air vents.
The model also features a reverse camera, keyless entry, Bluetooth connectivity and bi-beam headlights.
The cabin is very spacious offering all passengers plenty of space for a comfortable ride even during long distances. The vehicle accommodates 7 passengers but the third row is only ideal for children. The driver’s seat is power-adjustable. Compared to its rivals, the model offers poor cargo space but it can be expanded by folding the third row and even the second-row seats.
For safety, the SUV features a host of systems such as ABS, hill assist control, stability control, descent assist control as well as a package of 7 airbags.
The 2017 Toyota Fortuner will be availed in two engine options. The first engine is a 2.8 L, diesel mill that produces 174 hp and 265 lb-ft of torque.
The second engine is a petrol mill with a displacement of 2.7 liters. It produces 149 hp and 252 lb-ft of torque. The engines are paired to either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic gearbox. The model is also offered in 2WD or 4WD. There is also reports of a hybrid mill to follow later on. The suggested unit is a combination of a 3.0 L mill with a 150Kwh electric motor for an output of around 200 horses.
